Overview

Skill Lens is a local-first macOS application that helps you understand and monitor your AI agent skills. Your privacy is fundamental to our design. The app processes all data on your device and does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers.

Data Collection

Skill Lens does not collect any data. There are no analytics, no telemetry, no usage tracking, and no crash reporting sent to us or any third party.

Local Processing

All skill analysis, summaries, and reports run entirely on your Mac. Skill files are read and analyzed locally. Results, insights, and history are stored only on your device.

Network Connections

Skill Lens may make network connections only in the following cases:

  • LLM API calls — When you opt in to LLM-powered analysis and provide your own API key, skill content may be sent to your chosen LLM provider (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama) for deeper insights.
  • Apple StoreKit — For in-app purchase verification and license validation through Apple’s standard APIs.

API Key Storage

If you provide API keys for LLM providers, they are stored securely in the macOS Keychain. Keys are never transmitted to us or any server other than the provider you configure.

App Sandbox

Skill Lens runs in a fully sandboxed environment as required by the Mac App Store. The app can only access files and resources explicitly granted by you or the operating system.

Third-Party Services

Skill Lens integrates with third-party LLM providers only when you explicitly opt in and provide your own API key. Each provider has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any LLM provider you choose to use.

Children’s Privacy

Skill Lens does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is a productivity tool intended for developers and IT professionals.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
